Radicality

The 2013/14 course programme focuses on “radicality” as a term that can both be applied to ways of acting (practices) and to critical thinking. What does it mean to be radical in today’s political, cultural and economic landscape, in which radicality has not only been absorbed by the mainstream but has become the embodiment of everything mainstream? How can radicality be expressed politically, aesthetically, conceptually, and architecturally?

Course subjects range from the urban condition of political action to the ‘radical’ tranformation of global ecologies through the urban boom, as well as from analyses of the tension between expression and belief to the agency of ‘radical aesthetics’ in media and art.
