Citizen Science Award 2025

City Layers was honoured with the Citizen Science Award 2025. Developed with over 300 citizens, students, and researchers, this participatory mapping tool enables users to share observations, add tags and photos, and engage with others’ insights on urban spaces. By making everyday experiences visible, City Layers helps uncover how people relate to and imagine the transformation of their surroundings.

The Citizen Science Award is coordinated by the OeAD – Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation, the national agency responsible for international cooperation in education, science, and research. Through this award, the OeAD promotes inclusive and participatory forms of knowledge-making that connect science more directly with society.
