MAPPING MOBILITY BARRIERS

Urban mobility remains a critical challenge in contemporary cityscapes, particularly for individuals navigating environments with physical, sensory, or cognitive constraints. Through collaborative mapping walks, City Layers foregrounds the everyday obstacles encountered in the urban terrain, ranging from broken pavements and inaccessible crossings to poorly designed public infrastructure. The participatory mapping walks developed within this research plays a central role in documenting and visualizing these barriers. By enabling citizens to record spatial and experiential data in situ, the platform supports a more user-informed understanding of mobility inequities and fosters dialogue toward inclusive urban transformation.
