Rendering visible operations of capital in the present by juxtaposing research on three conjoined trajectories: human migration and refugee resettlement and rehousing industries, data networks and IT infrastructure, and global logistics and sea-based networks for shipping materials and goods.

BENJAMIN GERDES is a Brooklyn-based artist, professor in the Department of Communications and Film at Long Island University and 2018 Fulbright Specialist at the Visual Culture Unit, Institute of Art and Design, TU Wien, contributing to the unit’s long-term research focus on “Building Capital/Baukapital”. His research residency at TU Wien has been made possible through the generous support by the Fulbright Commission.
