DAS GUTE, DAS BÖSE UND DAS HÄSSLICHE. ZUM VERHÄLTNIS VON ÄSTHETIK UND ETHIK

Ausgehend von Sergio Leones Titel “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” werden wir anhand von Texten des 17.-21. Jahrhunderts zentrale Fragen des Verhältnisses von Ästhetik und Moralphilosophie untersuchen: Ist das Schöne sittlich? Und das Böse hässlich? Was bedeutet die Moralisierung der Institution Kunst, wie sie zum Beispiel in der jüngeren Geschichte der documenta gezeigt wird? Kann Ästhetik durch Moral ersetzt werden? Und wenn ja, für wen?
