Letizia Chiappini
Letizia Chiappini is a PhD candidate in Urban Studies (UrbEur Doctorate) at the University of Milano-Bicocca and at the University of Amsterdam. In her Ph.D. research, she proposes the concept of ‘urban digital platform’ to analyze platforms that support grassroots initiatives and practices of urban dwellers resisting commodification of urban space. Her research is a comparative study based on four years of extensive fieldwork in Milan and Amsterdam. In other projects, she investigates artistic practices concerning digital fabrication and maker spaces as an alternative mode of space production. She holds a bachelor’s degree in literature and philosophy (University of Parma) and a master’s degree in sociology and social research (the University of Milano-Bicocca, co-supervised with Aalborg University, Denmark). Letizia is a digital activist committed to working with artistic communities in Milan and Amsterdam. She writes for various media sources on digital platforms and the making of alternative urban spaces.
